While I was pregnant with Jackson, I stumbled across the online forums at JustMommies.com I joined a board specific to my due date and actively got to know a ton of other ladies due around the same time as me. I would lurk on other boards there (they have a ton!) and one day I noticed a "Cloth Diapering" board. Before stumbling upon this message board, I had no idea that cloth diapers were still around or that they were so cute and advanced!
While still pregnant, I really though about cloth but my husband would have nothing to do with it! He said "No" so I dropped it.
Fast forward to July. Jackson was 4 months old and I had come across something online that made me realize how bad disposable diapers actually were for the environment. I'm pretty sure it was on the gDiapers website...I was looking into gDiapers because I had seen them at Babies R Us. I have always been worried about the environment and decided that I was going to switch. That is how my blog came to be!
I started buying diapers, started up my blog and just kind of told my husband that we were switching to cloth diapers. He was against it again but I told him I would be doing the laundry so it shouldn't matter that much to him anyways! I also said I'd deal with diaper changes and let him in on how much money we could be saving. He was game. (And he even does diaper changes now!)
If I hadn't been unable to sleep and had never stumbled across JustMommies.com and their Cloth Diapering Forums, I would never have known what was available as far as diapering choices go. I think a huge majority of the cloth diapering families have discovered cloth, one way or another, online.
Hopefully cloth diapering information will be spread through word of mouth and more and more people will be open to trying it!
